It was another busy Saturday for lots of Academy and SETAFA athletes as the first of the Senior Competitions got under way (Ages U17s+). 2 Academy Athletes Fola Odofin and Zac Williams competed for (City of Portsmouth AC) in the SAL at 'The Mountbatten Centre' with Fola achieving a new Personal Best of 12.32s for the 100m. That puts her up the U20 Po10 rankings into Joint 23rd and there is definetely more to come. Zac Williams still on his comeback trail after a Pulled Hamstring in February won his 400mh in a 58.1 clocking and a 23.8 clocking in the 200m. Zac will be looking to race himself into fitness ahead of some big competitions this summer before moving out to the University of Texas . Also at the same Meet V40 Male Kevin Wheeler was running for Aldershot Farnham and District over various distances including the 200 and 400m.
Over at the Crawley K2 stadium Matthew Childs, Katherine Brook, Mesoma Nwabueze and Gabby Falano were all competing for Havant AC. Katherine Brook was on fire with 3 Personal Bests and finishing off the day with a first leg run in the 4 x 100m and then a leg in the 4 x 400m. Personal Bests in the 100m,200m and Long Jump was a real positive start for Katherine stepping up to senior competition as an 1st Year U20 athlete. Matthew Childs also on the comeback trail after a Winter full of niggles and strains also put on a show with a season best in the 400m and 200m. Matt also competed in the 4 x 100m, 4 x 400m and the 100m to round up a super busy day.
Mesoma Nwabueze competing as a first year U17 and only 14 years of age stormed clear in the 200m with a Personal Best of 27.29s (fastest run of the day) and a respectable 2nd in the 100m with a 13.52. Mesoma is getting stronger every day and is on the upward curve of her training program so expect big things in the near future. Gabby Falano also a first year U17 and just 14 years of age stormed through her 100m with the fastest time of the day in 13.29s.
We now move on to Sunday where the U13 Boys Draken Beattie-Williams and Noah Foxcroft-Boyd are in action for 'The City of Portsmouth AC' taking part in the lower YDL league.
